Odd or even: which diameter should you pick?
An odd diameter has one block dead centre. That single block is what lets you line a tower up with a beacon, drop a fountain in the middle, or centre a nether portal — so 15, 17 and 21 are the sizes most builds end up using. An even diameter has a two-by-two centre instead, which reads flatter on the sides and suits arenas and platforms where nothing has to sit exactly in the middle.
Five mistakes that ruin a round build
- Counting the diameter as the radius. The size box is the full width of the circle, not half of it. A 15 is fifteen blocks across.
- Building the whole ring by eye. Build one quarter against the centre guides and mirror it. Errors that creep in on one side get copied symmetrically instead of drifting.
- Starting without the blocks. A filled 51-block circle is 2,053 blocks — over 32 stacks. Check the counter first.
- Using filled mode for a wall. Filled is for floors. For a wall you want Outline, with the thickness set to how deep the wall should be.
- Changing diameter halfway up a tower. Every layer of a round tower is the same circle. Use Cylinder mode so the ring and the count stay locked together.

Frequently asked questions
How do you make a perfect circle in Minecraft?
Minecraft has no round blocks, so a "perfect" circle is the closest approximation on a square grid. Set the diameter, keep Outline mode on, and copy the highlighted blocks row by row. The centre guides split the chart into four identical quarters, so you only have to work one out.
What is a Minecraft circle chart?
A circle chart is a top-down grid showing exactly which blocks form a circle of a given diameter. The size chart on this page lists the block counts for the most common diameters, and the generator draws any size from 1 to 512.
What size should my Minecraft circle be?
Odd diameters (15, 17, 21…) have a single centre block, which makes towers and fountains easy to centre. Even diameters give flatter sides. A 15-block circle is the usual choice for a standard round tower.
Does this work for both Java and Bedrock?
Yes. The chart is pure geometry, so it works in every Minecraft edition and version — and on any other grid, from Terraria builds to cross-stitch.
How do I build a round tower?
Switch the shape to Cylinder and set the tower height. Every layer of a round tower is the same circle, so you build one ring and repeat it. The counter multiplies the blocks per ring by the height.
What is the difference between outline and filled mode?
Outline gives you the hollow ring you would build for walls, towers and portals. Filled covers the whole interior — use it for floors, ponds and solid platforms.
Can I make thicker walls?
Yes. Raise the wall thickness up to 8 blocks and the ring grows inwards, keeping the outer edge exactly where it was. That is what you want for castle walls and defensive rings.
How do I keep track of what I have already built?
